Easy Chicken Coop Plans The Easy Way To Build A Chicken Coop
There are so many different ideas and plans for building chicken coops that it can be a bit overwhelming, especially for the first time chicken owner. They range from extremely elaborate two story coops with detailed trim down to small lean-to's surrounded by some fencing. If you're just starting out it might be better to start off simple so you can enjoy the benefits of chicken farming that much sooner!
Chickens aren't especially needy, and they only have a few overall basic requirements. All they really want is a place to get out of the weather to lay their eggs. In essence, your coop should provide basic protection from the elements and some space for their nests so they can lay their eggs in peace and quiet.
Chickens are also rather vulnerable to predators, depending on what area of the country you live in. Obviously a fox is the most recognizable chicken chaser, but there are other dangers as well. Your coop should hopefully provide some protection from these hungry critters.

Some people like to start out from scratch and design their own coops. However, if you don't have a ton of time, or you're just new to the hobby, it might help to get a good set of detailed blueprints to help you out.
Our recommendation is to check out the Chicken DIY Guide. Their sets of blueprints are very detailed and we were surprised at how complete they were. They include plans for several different sizes of coops, as well as some plans for making an incubator.
Some Ideas For Your Coop Easy Chicken Coop Plans
Placement: Where are you going to place your coop? This seems like a stupid question, but it's actually rather important. Don't put it right under your neighbors window, of course! Also, consider the prevailing wind in your area, and try not to place it upwind from your house. Chickens aren't especially smelly, but they don't smell like roses either!
Placing your coop so they aren't in direct sunlight all the time is another good idea. Select a place that gets some shade throughout the day.
Design: If you use chicken coop blueprints this should already be in there, but ensure that your coop has a somewhat sloping floor so that cleaning it out will be easier and all the waste will slide right out. Ensure that you can access the coop easily as well, otherwise cleaning will be a royal pain.
